Hi! My name is Ross Keller. I am a professional photographer residing in Derby, Connecticut with my wife Mary.
My interest in photography began at a young age, but it wasn’t until my early 30's that I really began to pursue my passion. In 2006, I completed five Continuing Education courses at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, Connecticut. Using my father-in-law’s “antique” Mamyia 35 mm SLR (Single Lens Reflex), I began to have a better understanding of the more technical aspects of photography. It was then that I invested in my first digital SLR - a Nikon D50.
Initially, I began photographing scenic landscapes. Mary and I have a love for the outdoors, so it seemed only natural to capture the beautiful places we were traveling to, whether it be in our New England backyard, or someplace more exotic. My camera became an extension of my arm - often to the annoyance of my wife!
Somewhere along the line, I also started to really enjoy photographing people. I am a very calm person, with an easy going personality. I would like to hope that helps put people at ease, and allows me to capture some very personal and emotional moments with my camera. I am proud and honored to have been hired to shoot engagement photos, weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, family portraits, and even babies. My current focus is in Wedding Photography, and I have been steadily building that business for the last six years.
I continue to participate in photography classes. In 2008, I attended a Nature Photography class at Yale, in New Haven, Connecticut. The class was hosted by renowned National Geographic Traveler photographer, Eddie Soloway. In 2009, I attended a Wedding Photography seminar in New York City. This class was hosted by Cliff Mautner, who is considered by many to be one of the top ten wedding photographers in this country. In 2010, I traveled back to New York City to attend a Wedding Photography seminar hosted by Doug Gordon. This instructional class focused on Doug’s popular Flow Posing System, something I am putting into practice with my own clients.
In the last few years, I have also added to my camera inventory! Currently, I am primarily shooting with a Nikon D700, as well as a Nikon D2X and D80.
